Mother Kills Her Baby because of Farmville

By David Hunt
A Jacksonville mother charged with shaking her baby to death has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Alexandra V. Tobias, 22, was arrested after the January death of 3-month-old Dylan Lee Edmondson. She told investigators she became angry because the baby was crying while she was playing a computer game called FarmVille on the Facebook social-networking website.
Update: More information has been released for this story.
Tobias entered her plea Wednesday before Circuit Judge Adrian G. Soud. A second-degree murder charge is punishable by up to life in prison.
Prosecutor Richard Mantei said Tobias' sentence could be less because of state guidelines that call for 25 to 50 years. Soud offered no promises on what he'll order during a sentencing hearing scheduled for December.
Outside the courtroom, Mantei said Tobias' plea will help avoid the family reliving the tragedy during a jury trial.
Tobias told investigators that she shook the baby, smoked a cigarette to compose herself and then shook him again. She said the baby may have hit his head during the shaking.

Is this how addicting social network sites and internet games are? So beware, each one of us must know how to control ourselves and know when to stop.

Global Ascension

I would like to share what I have learned in today’s gospel reading, about the ascension of Jesus into Heaven; the 40th day after His resurrection. Before He rose up to Heaven, He blessed His disciples and told them to start spreading the Good News to all… Jesus is the living proof that there is life after death- men should die in order to rise again and meet our Creator. I have learned that life does not end in death…rather it is the beginning of a new life which God has promised, so we should follow Jesus’ example. Today is also the 44th Annual World Day for Social Communications- stressing the great role of media and technology in spreading the Word of God. Pope Benedict XVI also said that using the digital media is a great help in proclaiming the Good News all over the world- through websites, chatting and other social networking…priests and other religious men and women can easily reach out to those who need them. I have learned that the technology we have today should not only be used for leisure and playing… the internet we have today must also be used as a tool to connect with other people and God. :) :)

Mini Bio

I'm a country bred from Luzon, Philippines. Raised by a couple who earned a living through farming, I have two brothers. I finished my 1st and secondary education in my hometown. After which, I moved to the big city, to work to pay for my college education- I was in night school. The income of my parents were insufficient , so by working I thought I could help them.
I finished college, but applying for a job isn't easy especially if you haven't passed an accreditation for your course. But finally, I landed on a job not connected with my degree. I was hired to work in a shipping company {merchant vessel}- I traveled worldwide for free.
My last contract was ended last July 2009. Many shipping companies suffered huge losses due to the
global economic crisis. They cut short their hiring quotas until they fully recover.
At present, I am jobless. I'm living here in the southern part of the Philippines with my loving wife and 2 beautiful daughters. They are now in college so I have to think of some way to help them pursue their dreams.
And as I was browsing the net, I read some interesting blogs which encouraged me to make one myself. So here I am...I hope my blog interests you too.
