REASONS BEHIND MASS BIRDS DEATH ....

Reports say one in a series of mass bird deaths in the past months was the result of a USDA  Avicide  program which began in the late 60's as Operation Bye Bye Blackbird. The government acknowledged that it had a hand in one string of mysterious mass bird deaths that have spooked residents in Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, South Dakota and Kentucky in the last month.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) took  responsibility for hundreds of dead starlings that were found on the ground and frozen in trees in a Yankton South Dakota park on Monday. The USDA wildlife service program which contracts with farmers for bird control say they used an Avicide poison called DRC1339 to cull a roost of 5,000 birds that were defecating on a farmer's cattle feeds across a state line in Nebraska but they denied the recent large and dense  bird kills in Arkansas and Loiusiana.
In addition to the USDA program, a so called Depredation order from US Fish and Wildlife Service allows blackbirds, grackles and starlings to be killed by anyone who says they pose health risks or cause economic damage...

 The Dash
by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend

He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end
He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years
For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what’s true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life’s actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

A President's vice...a deadly vice

PLEASE CLICK HERE to READ the DANGERS of SMOKING
Recently, the new President, Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" C. Aquino III was found out to be a smoker- many known people advised him to stop smoking but he could not. I think he should stop smoking so the people would follow and stop smoking too. He could set an example to all…
But smoking is not only the President’s vice, many people smoke too- based on CNN world survey, 1 in 7 youths smoke. There are lots of different reasons why people smoke…but there are even more reasons not to smoke. Smoking is very harmful to the body, it has no advantage at all- and everyone knows that. But why do people still continue to smoke? I was a smoker before, even when I was in high school- and for  many years I continued to smoke... I've just recently quit this vice, my family made me do it and I am thankful to them since no good will come out of this smoking… It is hard to break a habit, but it can be done. It is for our own good anyway. It would be really nice if smoking was banned from public places so smokers won't bother the nonsmokers... People can just chew gum instead of smoking a cigarette- it's what I do.. :D

A cure to the summer heat

It was a boring and hot Wednesday afternoon...so I decided to watch a romantic movie entitled "Bright Star. " It was a true story set in London (1818), about the relationship between John Keats an English poet and the girl next door Fanny Brawne who has an eye for fashion- she even makes her own clothes. At first they were at odds, but gradually they came to like each other and even fell in love. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the movie because I found their love for each other to be pure and honest. But even true love cannot prevent the tragedy that was to befall on the young lovers...This movie made me realize that love does last amidst the loss of the person whom you care most ; because you'll always have the sweet memories. This movie is absolutely inspiring-- this reminds me that it is better to be in love and to love your love than to never have loved at all. I also reminisced my innocence before, and my first love... This movie definitely completed my day...
quotes: poetry soothes and emboldens the soul to accept mystery...forever panting and forever young
I would also like to recommend reading John Keats' letters to Fanny...here in : http://books.google.ca/books?id=h14LAAAAIAAJ&printsec=titlepage#PP%20A3,M1
